Canadian police have warned that scammers are impersonating the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) logo to carry out **crypto asset recovery scams**, targeting victims who have already been defrauded for a second round of deception.
One local resident lost approximately 5,000 Canadian dollars in a crypto remote job scam. Later, after filling out a fake RCMP official form, the resident received a call from someone claiming to be a lawyer. The caller alleged that around 60,000 Canadian dollars worth of “crypto earnings” under the resident’s name had been identified and offered to help recover the funds.
Police emphasized that the RCMP will never contact individuals to inform them of discovered crypto accounts, will not cooperate with private agencies on paid recovery services, and will never request any fees to investigate fraud cases.
