U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal has launched an investigation into Binance, demanding clarification over $1.7 billion reportedly flowing from platform accounts to Iran-linked entities, including Yemen’s Houthi movement.

Blumenthal sent a letter to Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, requesting records of transactions with relevant Hong Kong entities, as well as information regarding suspended or dismissed compliance staff.

Binance has denied the allegations, stating the reports are false and that the platform has no Iranian users. The company added it is conducting an internal review and will submit the findings to the U.S. Department of Justice.
