Bitcoin plummeted sharply in New York in the early afternoon on Saturday, falling below the $80,000 mark to its lowest level since April 2025.

The drop occurred amid low liquidity and weak buying interest, deepening the more than 30% decline for the world's largest cryptocurrency.

In midday New York trading on Saturday, Bitcoin tumbled as much as 7.1% to $78,159.41, with other tokens seeing even steeper losses. Ethereum, the second-largest digital asset, dropped more than 10%, while Solana fell over 11%.
