According to a Reuters report, Kyrgyzstan has announced the launch of its national stablecoin USDKG, which is backed by gold reserves and pegged to the U.S. dollar at a 1:1 ratio. The first batch of USDKG issued amounts to over USD 50 million (totaling 50,140,738 tokens), issued by a state-owned enterprise controlled by the Ministry of Finance. It will be mainly used for cross-border payments and international trade. The Ministry of Finance plans to increase the reserves supporting this stablecoin to USD 2 billion. Additionally, due to power shortages, the country's government has ordered a nationwide suspension of cryptocurrency mining operations.
