According to a Bloomberg report, Citigroup (Citi) and Coinbase announced a partnership to explore stablecoin-based cross-border payment solutions for Citi’s corporate clients. This collaboration will focus on simplifying the exchange process between cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies to improve the efficiency of capital flow and settlement speed. Debopama Sen, Head of Citi’s Payment Services, stated that the bank is evaluating the launch of an on-chain stablecoin payment function within the next few months to meet institutional clients’ needs for programmable payments, conditional payments, and 24/7 settlement capabilities.
