Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance of Thailand, announced via Twitter that the Thai Cabinet has approved new tax measures proposed by the Ministry of Finance. Under the new policy, individual capital gains from trading digital assets on platforms regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will be exempt from personal income tax from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029. He stated that the law aims to invigorate Thailand's cryptocurrency market, attract foreign investment to stimulate domestic consumption, and may introduce other taxes such as value-added tax (VAT) in the future. Thailand is recognized as one of the first countries to establish clear legal and tax frameworks for digital asset regulation.
