Personnel from US federal agencies hunting for illegal immigrants have clashed multiple times with Los Angeles residents in recent days. On June 7th, Trump signed a presidential memorandum deploying 2,000 California National Guard personnel to the Los Angeles area without a request for support from California Governor Gavin Newsom. A US Defense Department official confirmed on June 9th that an additional 2,000 National Guard members would be dispatched to support federal law enforcement operations in Los Angeles.
