Ethereum developers are testing a privacy protocol based on Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZK) to enable 'Secret Santa'-style anonymous matching on the blockchain. Participants use ZK to verify relationships, relayers to hide transaction origins, and shared random numbers to encrypt gift recipient information—effectively preventing address exposure, duplicate registrations, or self-matching. This protocol is regarded as a key implementation of Ethereum’s privacy framework and can be further extended to scenarios such as anonymous voting, DAO governance, whistleblowing channels, and private airdrops.
