The Bank of Korea said in its annual settlement report that it has advised cryptocurrency exchanges to consider implementing circuit breakers to block abnormal trading and address sudden market volatility. The recommendation comes in the wake of a Bitcoin transfer incident at Bithumb, South Korea’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange. The central bank blamed the incident on a lack of internal compliance measures, stating that the virtual asset industry has weaker internal controls and looser oversight compared to traditional financial institutions.
