據《信報》報導，財政司司長陳茂波出席港台論壇、蒐集新一屆《財政預算案》意見時表示，針對市民建議穩定幣未來與黃金掛鉤的提案，政府會循序漸進推動穩定幣相關工作，待順利完成第一步基礎建設後，再考量與黃金或其他標的掛鉤的可行性。目前相關工作仍持續進行研究，且需以審慎態度處理。

According to *Hong Kong Economic Journal*, Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary, stated while attending a Hong Kong-Taiwan forum to gather opinions on the new Budget that in response to the public's proposal for stablecoins to be pegged to gold in the future, the government will push forward stablecoin-related work step by step. The gold-backed or other pegging schemes will only be considered after the initial steps are completed. Currently, relevant research is ongoing and the matter requires prudent handling.
