Nick Timiraos, reporter from The Wall Street Journal, stated that there were three dissenting votes at this meeting: Goolsbee and Schmid opposed the rate cut, while Miran advocated for a 50-basis-point rate cut. The latest Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) shows that 6 out of 19 officials do not support a rate cut, and the median dot plot for 2026 remains unchanged. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve announced that it will launch reserve management purchases this week, buying $40 billion worth of Treasury bills (T-bills) per month.
