The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced the launch of a new initiative called BLOOM today, aiming to expand the settlement capabilities of financial institutions. This initiative will collaborate with the industry to promote settlements using tokenized bank liabilities and regulated stablecoins under a standardized framework, while effectively managing relevant risks.
BLOOM will cover multiple currencies of the G10 countries and Asia, supporting both domestic and cross-border settlements. Its application scenarios include corporate financial management, trade finance, and intelligent agent payments, among others. The first batch of participants includes Circle, Coinbase, DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, UOB Bank, Partior, Stripe, Ant International, and StraitsX.
