Nine European banks have joined hands to launch a euro stablecoin development project. The goal of this collaboration is to create a European alternative to the current U.S.-dominated stablecoin market, thereby helping Europe achieve strategic autonomy in the payment field. This stablecoin is planned to be officially launched in the second half of 2026. According to a statement released by Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB), the banks participating in this cooperation include UniCredit (Italy), ING Group (Netherlands), Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB), Banco Sabadell (Spain), KBC Group (Belgium), Danske Bank (Denmark), Nordea Bank (Sweden), CaixaBank (Spain), and Raiffeisen Bank International (Austria). At present, this bank alliance has established a new company in the Netherlands, which is specifically responsible for advancing this project. The statement also mentioned that the alliance welcomes other banks to join this initiative.
