According to Decrypt, South Korea's ruling Democratic Party has established a 'Digital Asset Task Force' with the goal of passing comprehensive legislation on stablecoins and virtual assets during this year's regular National Assembly sessions and the year-end National Assembly session to protect South Korea's monetary sovereignty. Lee Jung-moon, the person in charge of the task force, stated that a policy for won-based stablecoins will be established to counter the impact of U.S. dollar-based stablecoins. Han Jung-ae, chairman of the task force, said that the market has been continuously calling for regulations covering the issuance, distribution of virtual assets and stablecoins, in order to drive technological innovation and adapt to the emerging financial market environment.
