The Federal Reserve issued an announcement stating that Stephen Moore has been sworn in as a Federal Reserve Governor, with his term on the Board of Governors set to end on January 31, 2026. Moore previously served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under the Trump administration, and during Trump’s first term, he also oversaw economic policy-related work at the Treasury Department. Although Moore publicly emphasized the independence of the Federal Reserve during the nomination process, analysts believe that part of the reason for Moore’s nomination is that Trump wants to appoint a governor more inclined to ease monetary policy in relation to key interest rate policies. After completing the swearing-in process, Moore can officially participate in meetings of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).
