According to Decrypt, Thailand’s former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra met with representatives from global digital asset companies such as Japan’s Metaplanet and UTXO Management in Bangkok to discuss positioning Thailand as the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Bitcoin Digital Asset Treasury Hub, and supporting the establishment of sovereign strategic reserves to enhance the resilience of the financial system. This initiative aims to address issues such as Thailand’s slowing economic growth and debt. Earlier, Thaksin, Thailand’s former prime minister, stated that he expected Thailand to launch a cryptocurrency sandbox involving the private sector in October.
