The Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) today (21st) passed the 'Stablecoin Bill' (the 'Bill'), which was welcomed by the Hong Kong SAR Government. The Bill aims to establish a licensing system for legal tender stablecoin issuers in Hong Kong, improve the regulatory framework for virtual asset activities in the region, maintain financial stability, and promote financial innovation.
